Mulch, a Secret Landscaping Ingredient

Mulch is a secret ingredient for a flourishing landscape. Made out of organic materials, such as wood chips, grass clippings, leaves, hay, manure, and sawdust, mulch is applied to planter beds and at the base of trees in a thick four to six inch layer. This layer of organic matter prevents water evaporation and holds moisture in the soil. Mulch also insulates the soil moderating its temperature, and decreases soil erosion and compaction when it is hit with heavy rain. Best of all, mulch suppresses weed growth giving you more time to sit and enjoy your outdoor living space instead of spending all of your time maintaining it.
